Just 2.5 hours North of Williams Lake is the restored and entertaining historic gold mining town of Barkerville. Pan for gold, take in a can-can show, tour the old cemetery, and get a genuine glimpse of what life was like in the 1800’s. Looking for something a little less touristy but still historic? The ghost town of Quesnel Forks (by Likely) is just 1.5 hours east of Williams Lake. Want breathtaking views? Farwell Canyon on the Chilcotin River with epic sand dunes and hoodoos 45 minutes west of the city. How about excitement? Chilko River Lodge is 3 hours west of Williams Lake. It offers beautiful rustic cabins with tours offering wildlife viewing.
The Cariboo Memorial Complex is located in the heart of Williams Lake. It has a fitness and aquatic centre as well as 2 arenas. There are also a number of gyms in Williams Lake, including Concrete Fitness and Fit City Athletica.
