Meet Your Instructor Beat Schwaller

Timber King Beat Of the HGTV Series, Timber Kings

Originally born, raised and trained in Switzerland, Beat Schwaller, also known as Timber King Beat, of the HGTV television reality series, Timber Kings, came to Canada in 1993 after successfully completing his education and apprenticeship in carpentry. His desire was to master the art of log building and expand his love of creating beautiful structures from massive wood. Beat, an artisan by nature, went to work with a well-known hand-crafted log building company in Williams Lake in 1993. Starting at the entry level position of peeling logs, Beat learned how to read a log’s features and perfected his eye for placement in a project. He quickly showed his employers his natural talent, exceptional woodworking skills and incredible work ethic and before long Beat had mastered the trade, managing projects and supervising and training new employees.

My goal is to present you with the most up-to-date techniques and details of the modern handcrafted log construction industry, teaching you knowledge to either build your own cabin or give you the foundation for finding a job in the log home building industry.

- Beat Schwaller, Master Craftsman, Instructor

When his employer expanded their building operations and opened a 2nd handcrafted log manufacturing yard, Beat moved to the new site as site supervisor, running the day to day operations, training staff, and supervising and building along with the staff on multiple projects.

As Master Craftsman, Log Builder, Timber Framer and Carpenter, Beat has brought his natural creative instincts and artistic talents to life in the form of exquisite handcrafted log, post and beam, and timber frame, massive wood and hybrid homes. Beat is a gifted artist, builder and teacher that brings 26 years of log building experience, building over 500 log homes, the largest being 57,000 Sqft. He has passed his skills and love of the age-old craft of log building to many workers who continue to work in the log building industry. Beat’s passion combined with experience and training passed onto him by some of the finest builders in the industry is an amazing combination offering students the opportunity to learn from one of BC’s finest builders. Beat is excited to now be offering students the opportunity to share in learning and practicing the art of log building with him at the unBEATable School of Log Construction.
